60 years of Independence

Happy Republic Day everyone. Our country has bore testimony as a republic for 60 years (and counting !). So lets commemorate the sung and unsung heroes in our own small way.
I wrote the following poem during the savage attack on Mumbai on 26/11.It is dedicated to all the citizens of India.


PEACE

The sound of gunshots reverberates in the air;
The raging blasts are a part of the deadly lair.
Innocent victims call out helplessly,
As men of honour fight fearlessly.

'Tis destruction everywhere and chaos reigns.
A hopeless search for survivors in the mangled remains.
An unearthly quiet descends on the lively city;
Shattered dreams echo in the streets bloody.

The fight may be over but the war is still on;
The fanatical sinners are still not gone.
Let's salute the soldiers who went down bravely
And pledge to keep their sacrifices from going awry.

Come one, Come all !
Fighting back is the need of the hour.
Let's save our country from an impending doom;
And protect our children from a deadly gloom.

Today we must go to war,
To secure peace for tomorrow's call.
