Lament for a Lost Friend

Its been many years since I posted on my blog. And finally after a long, long hiatus, a spark of poetic inspiration has led me back to my trusty board of musings :) So here's a poem for those rainy days when you are reminiscing on life and friendship...

'Lament for a Lost Friend' 

Oh dearly beloved misguided Friend
Hark! How I call in vain for thee...
But no smiling face hastens to greet me.

Oh dearly beloved misguided Friend
Hark! How I keep lamenting for thee...
But no loving arms come forth to embrace me.

Our paths that were, anguish me as I recollect

Joys much and merriment a thousand fold.

But happiness and love you seem to forget

As sadness and hurt engulf you uncontrolled.

Oh dearly beloved misguided Friend
Hark! How I try hard to not miss thee...
But no glad reunion in the horizons do I see.

Your half empty cup is filled to the brim with angst and worry
As struggles within, trouble and goad you into a fury.
Ain't no love fair that bewitches but makes you blind
To friendship pure and foremost and brothers-in-kind.

Oh dearly beloved misguided Friend

At last I resign to the Fate that be,

Knowing these painful shackles won't forever bind thee.

Oh dearly beloved misguided Friend

Far from my heart though you shall be...

A true kindred spirit shall harken back to me!
